Potable water
Many areas in the UK are using surface water sources to supply potable water. Surface waters are usually very low in both calcium (Ca2+) and Bicarbonate (HCO3-). The water, therefore has an unstable pH level, due to lack of buffer capacity (HCO3-), and the water becomes very aggressive. The aggressive or corrosive waters dissolves any metal in the pipe network on its way to the consumer and causes leakage as well as undesirable water quality at the consumers tap.
Dosing CO2 to soft water is a cost effective solution which, together with lime hardens the water and makes it non-corrosive.
Fluoridation of potable water is carried out at the request of regional Health Authorities in areas where natural fluoride levels are low. We are a supplier of Hexafluorosilicic Acid to the Water Service companies which undertake the fluoridation on behalf of the Regional Health Authorities.
