Public Transport
Along with the pressures to increase use of public transport to the benefit of the environment, commercial vehicle operators are facing increasingly stringent limits for NOx emissions as new legislation takes effect across Europe. The present limit is Euro 3, which all new commercial vehicles currently need to meet. The challenge is to reach the even more demanding Euro 4 and 5 levels without having an adverse impact on diesel consumption. To meet these limits the major European heavy duty vehicle manufacturers have adopted Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology. This process uses AdBlue as a reagent to reduce NOx in an 'exhaust gas after-treatment system', attached to a vehicle's engine. The nature of the process means that engines can be tuned to give optimal diesel consumption and will, therefore, be self-financing in certain cases. In the bus sector particularly there can be local legislative pressure to improve emissions in line with cleaner air policies. To that end it is possible that retrofitting existing fleets with SCR systems is viable, as well as investment in SCR equipped new vehicles. To support public transport fleets Yara is working with bus garages to ensure the right AdBlue dispense system is installed to compliment existing refuelling equipment. It is recognised that strict time pressures often exist for the cleaning/servicing turnaround of bus fleets between shifts and the correct AdBlue replenishment system is therefore important, including if necessary non-spill nozzle options. AdBlue represents the culmination of ten years development in an exciting area of growth for our Company, working with others to establish the product quality standards necessary for this application. Creative cleaning solution
The system equipment operates by accelerating Dry Ice media through a pressurised air stream, impacting the particles upon the substrate surface being cleaned. The process provides a dry and abrasion free clean, and because the pellet media sublimates immediately upon impact (turns from a solid to a gas), there is no secondary waste disposal necessary.
