Yara Industrial UK invest in drive to improve quality, efficiency & product availability

(2006-09-20) Yara Industrial has completed the purchase of Ice Master (UK) Limited; the first step towards achieving optimised production and supply of its Dry Ice product range in the UK.

The project, culminating in the closing of Ice Master (UK) Limited in Qtr 2 2007 and the opening of a new purpose built dry ice production facility, is the largest single investment in the dry ice business since its purchase from ICI back in 1995.

The new plant will include the latest state-of-the-art production technology, which will include full automation of container cleaning, container tracking, order allocation, production, robot packaging and delivery of completed orders to despatch.  The new facility will allow Yara Industrial to increase its production capability for the UK market, placing the business in a very strong position to accommodate the increasing demand for its product and services.

A spokesperson for Yara Industrial stated, "It has been our desire for some time to establish a production facility that will increase our flexibility, allowing us to deliver the highest possible quality product and service to our customers.  This investment will also allow Yara Industrial to establish a production infrastructure that has the capacity to expand our client base, particularly in emerging markets such as food distribution where temperature control is becoming an ever greater issue.

The desire of Ice Master (UK) Limited to concentrate on its core business activity of producing water ice, interlinked well with Yara's desire to improve its production infrastructure; allowing it to operate a production bridge prior to the completion of our new production facility being operational in Qtr 2 2007".

The new production facility will complement Yara's existing operation in Immingham, increasing flexibility, production availability and improving quality.
