Massey Ferguson recommends 'Air1' for its new MF8690 flagship tractor

(2008-09-12) Massey Ferguson's eagerly awaited 370hp, MF3680 flagship tractor made its public debut on 2nd September at the Innov-Agri in France. It is the most powerful and technically advanced tractor Massey Ferguson has ever produced.

One of its new features is the very latest SisuDiesel Citius engine which powers the MF8690, using Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology with the addition of AdBlue. This provides users with immediate access to tomorrow’s technology and also helps cut fuel consumption by 5%.   AdBlue is the generic trademark of a new fluid that is used with SCR systems on diesel exhausts.

AGCO Parts confirm that the preferred and recommended AdBlue product will be 'Air1', manufactured by Yara and distributed across Europe to Massey Ferguson dealers by Brenntag. It is guaranteed to meet the standards of ISO 22241 and ISO 22241 and, as importantly, CEFIC regulations to safeguard best possible performance of the SCR system in a Massey Ferguson machine.

"AdBlue helps save in many areas. It not only saves on the environment, with cleaner emissions and cleaner air, but saves on costs (by not requiring extensive external exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) systems) and, most importantly, saves on fuel," says David Howe, Manager, Rural Product Marketing, AGCO Customer Support.

This fluid is a quality-controlled high-purity urea solution held in a separate AdBlue tank on the tractor and used at a rate of around 3% of diesel consumption. It is non-toxic, not explosive or harmful to the environment and is classified under the minimum risk category of transportable fluids. Fuel savings and other benefits far outweigh the additional cost of the fluid.

Stephen Caldwell, Air1 Market Manager for the UK, is delighted that AGCO are adopting Air1 as their preferred AdBlue supplier in the UK and across Europe, stating: "Yara is already a leading supplier of plant nutrients to the UK's farming community. We're pleased that we can now supply another product into this market which will also contribute to improving the environment."

This product will be available through Massey Ferguson dealers in a number of sizes including 10ltr, 210ltr and 1000ltr containers. In the coming weeks dealers will be able to advise further on the product and best options available to customers.
