DipCalDipCalTM is a high purity, concentrated dipping coagulant for production of natural and synthetic latex products. The main industrial sector for this application is in the production of latex gloves. The general practice is to prepare a stock solution by adding DipCal granules to the water tank. A tap may be fitted 2-3 inches above the bottom of the container to tap off the DipCal liquid for use and allow insolubles to settle at the bottom. Glove formers are first passed through cleaning tanks and then dipped into the tank of DipCal. The strength of the solution depending on the customer's specific requirements and on the articles to be produced. When coated with DipCal, the formers should appear to be dry before they are dipped into the latex tank. In some cases industrial alcohol is added to the coagulation tank for faster drying of formers and fillers and easier stripping. Preparing 100 kg of 10 % stock solution: DipCal typically contains 78% Calcium Nitrate, 15.5% water of crystallisation and 6.5% of Ammonium Nitrate. Thus, mixing 12.82 kg of DipCal and 87.10 kg of water will give a solution that contains 10.00 kg of Calcium Nitrate, 89.17 kg of water and 0.83 kg of Ammonium Nitrate. |
